Adventures begin at the trailhead

Paul Beard

"The Trailhead makes no compromise on quality of sound or aesthetic, but its unique rugged visual features are more forgiving than the average high-end guitar. We want the player to have no fear in taking it out of the case, to feel completely untethered from the stage or studio, with freedom to play this guitar wherever their life's trail leads."

SquareNeck

This guitar has been totally redesigned from the “workbench up”. It is the first of its kind, with features not found on any other Beard model. Its overall build creates a lighter and more resonant instrument, making it the perfect travel companion. The Trailhead body is braced for its acoustic contribution, and includes our Beard Vesper cone and spider. An installed Fishman Nashville bridge pickup allows you to seamlessly transition from campfire to gig with a sound profile that includes growling bass-end, defined mids, and brilliant highs.

The Trailhead-E squareneck is a large body curly maple guitar with a small round over and ultra-thin satin finish. It comes standard in a tobacco, blue denim, or black ice finish.

Made of curly maple, it has an ebony fretboard, custom curly maple slotted diamond inlays, a curly maple peghead veneer, and a Beard weathered brass badge.

In addition to the Vesper Cone and Spider, the Trailhead-E comes standard with Beard hand-weathered parts. All Beards come standard with Gotoh tuners.

The Trailhead-E squareneck starts at $4,500 and comes standard with a deluxe hardshell case and Fishman Nashville Bridge Pickup.

RoundNeck

Just as the trailhead on a hike marks the genesis of the exciting journey ahead, our hope is that the Trailhead guitar marks the dawn of a new experience for you as a player. Played fingerstyle, the Trailhead-E has a balanced tone that features tight bass-end, velvety mids, clear highs, and crazy sustain. The pick aficionado will hear all the same clarity, balance, and sustain with the addition of a growling low end. Accurate intonation that is rare on a resonator cutaway will unlock the possibility of memories and music to be made whether you are at a festival, arena, or mountaintop.

A soft c shaped neck makes this guitar incredibly playable all the way up the neck. Lastly, it contains a double action truss rod, an ebony truss rod cover, and a weathered Beard brass badge.

Three Finish options

With your choice between Tobacco, Blue Denim, and Black Ice, these guitars pay homage to the working and traveling players of bygone days. The Trailhead’s distinctive thin satin finish, hand weathered brass parts, and natural curly maple inlays appeal to its rugged and earthy presentation while providing the durability needed for exploration. No two trails are alike, and thus, each Trailhead guitar is as unique as the adventurer to whom it belongs.
