Deco Phonic Acoustic

A-137 Southside

The Southside is the do-it-all guitar of the Deco lineup. Slightly larger than a Sidecar, the mid-size Beard “A” body shape is visually unique and still very comfortable to play. The solid spruce top with mahogany Aero-X bracing provides a rich, balanced sound that is incredibly even across the frequency range. If you are looking for a versatile go anywhere, do anything instrument, the Southside is it. As always, all Deco guitars are handmade in Hagerstown Maryland.

Roundneck

This medium sized A-Body shaped guitar has a top made of solid Englemann spruce and back and sides made of Finnish birch veneer. The unique back and sides reflect the top’s energy to create more projection and a clearer sound.

The Aero-X bracing is a proprietary bracing that combines aircraft lightening techniques with rigid mahogany. The braces weigh the same as spruce, but have a smaller, stiffer footprint. This noticeably impacts the volume and projection of the guitar, as well as the responsiveness and touch sensitivity of the strings.

Made of solid mahogany, it features a Morado fingerboard, grained ivoroid dots, and contains a double action truss rod. In unison with the Deco resonators, Deco acoustics have a unique scale length of 25 inches. This slightly shorter scale length results in less string tension which in turn allows for a lighter more responsive top without compromising structural integrity.

The Morado bridge comes with boxwood bridge pins and a genuine bone saddle. The peghead features an ebony truss rod cover, bone nut, and Gotoh tuners.

The Deco-Southside starts at $2,600 and comes with a deluxe hard-shell case.
